Landscaping trees not only provide beauty, shade, food (in some instances) and privacy, but offer numerous health and energy benefits. Trees cleanse the air, and a house surrounded by trees will use less electricity because of the cooling effect both from the shade and the protective elements that trees provide. Did you have a favorite oak tree you liked to climb as a child? I did. And I can remember with clarity the trees in my yard when I was growing up. There was the plum tree in the front yard (not edible - we pelted each other with them!), the maple trees, and in the back we had a cherry tree (we had great pies!) and a favorite oak. In addition, was our glorious little Rose of Sharon that I nurtured and loved. Those trees were living and breathing to me - and a precious memory of my childhood.
