Paver Patio

by john 0'hara
(glasgow)

I am going to replace my grass lawn with slabs, for easy maintenance.
Do I have to remove the grass, and how much gravel and sand do I
need to put down? Cheers.

Answer from our professional landscaper:
This should be pretty easy to accomplish. Simply use a four inch retaining wall stone that is available at any landscape supplier. This will allow you to put dirt up to ground level against the block and hold back your pavers. Again, use a compacted aggregate base under the wall blocks just like the pavers. So ideally, you will want to dig a little deeper for the wall blocks (estate wall sometimes called) to ensure that there is no settling. I hope this helps!
